THE COPA AMERICA CENTENARIO HAS KICKED OFF IN USA
The continental tournament, which commemorates the 100 years of the first edition, has officially started in a crowded Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, with a big ceremony and a match between the local team and Colombia’s, who finally won.
The Copa America Centenario’s initial kickoff took place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, with a match between the host team and the Colombian team. Before rolling the ball, the inauguration ceremony was performed for a big audience who was mesmerized by the shows.
Half an hour before the beginning of the match, the Canadian band Magic! opened the show with their song "Lay You Down Easy" along with two more bands. Second in line was J Balbin, the Colombian who gave an amazing reggaeton show. And last in the lineup was Jason Derulo, a local artist who sang "Want To Want Me" while a lot of assistants formed in the field the flags of the teams disputing the tournament.
When the great inauguration event came to an end, the game began, and within the first seven minutes, Jose Pekerman’s team quickly opened the scoreboard 1-0 with a fantastic goal from Zapata, thanks to a ball that came out from the right corner. Just before the end of the first half, James Rodríguez scored with style a second goal with a penalty kick. During the first half, the Colombian team hit very hard, the second half wasn't much better for USA leaving the Colombian team with a huge victory.
This Saturday we´re going to have three more games. Costa Rica versus Paraguay will close the first day for group A in the Citrus Bowl. Then, Haiti versus Peru will start the group B stage in the CenturyLink Field. Finally, Brazil versus Ecuador will be closing the Copa America Centenario’s second day in the Rose Bowl Stadium.
