Argentina is on to the quarterfinals and Chile reached Panama in points

(June 10 2016) Lionel Messi appeared for the first time in this Copa América Centenario tournament and he scored a hat-trick against Panama. Argentina now has qualified for the quarterfinals after beating Panama 5-0  in Chicago. In Massachusetts, Chile beat Bolivia with a last minute goal that came from a penalty kick. This gave the  ‘’Roja’’ new chances on qualifying for the next stages of this competition.

Day 8

The first game of the day was Chile versus Bolivia, both from Group D and also both teams were the ones who lost their first match in the Copa América Centenario. Chile only had one thing on their mind and that was to qualify for the Copa América Centenario quarterfinals, and by defeating Bolivia in a very important match in the Gillette Stadium they are one step closer to their goal.

The ‘’Roja’’ opened the score first thanks to Vidal's goal that came at the very beginning of the 2nd half, then in the 61st minute Campos tied the game with an awesome left-footed free kick. Arturo Vidal's 2nd goal came after from a penalty kick closing the game 2-1.

Later that day, in the Chicago Soldier Field stadium, the next match was between Argentina and Panama. The Argentinian team managed to advance to the Copa America Centenario quarterfinals by winning 5-0. In the 2nd half, the moment that everybody was waiting for, finally arrived, the superstar Lionel Messi showed up and scored a hat-trick in 30 minutes. Nicolás Otamendi scored the first goal and Sergio Agüero scored the last one.

The 3rd games of group play for teams will begin this Saturday. USA will try to qualify by playing Paraguay in Lincoln Financial Field, while Colombia, who is already in the quarterfinals, will be facing Costa Rica in the NRG Stadium.
