Copa América Centenario has two new quarterfinal players
(June 9 2016) An amazing football day has defined Group C’s top two teams. Venezuela beat Uruguay and Jamaica, and now both Mexico and Venezuela have reached the quarterfinals.
The 7th day of competition started with Venezuela’s victory against Uruguay at the Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field stadium. Salomón Rondón scored to make the score 1-0 for Venezuela, leaving Uruguay stunned and chances slipping from getting a place in the quarterfinals.
Also, this triumph versus Uruguay was the first one for Venezuela in the whole competitions history and left Tabarez´s team close to being eliminated from the tournament.
A couple of hours later the Uruguayan nightmare became real in the Pasadena Rose Bowl when Mexico eliminated Jamaica from the competition by winning 2-0. The Mexican team got the victory thanks to Javier Hernandez’s goal and another one from Oribe Peralta. The Jamaican team performance was excellent but they did not have any luck and Mexico’s perseverance was solid enough to keep them out of the back of the net.
The Copa América Centenario’s second games will be ending this Friday. Chile and Bolivia, both defeated in their debut, play at the Gillette Stadium. Meanwhile Argentina and Panama will be disputing a decisive match, the winner will qualify for the quarterfinals.
