USA hits hard and fights for a place into the quarterfinals.

(June 7 2016) Colombia qualified to the next stages of the Copa América Centenario by beating Paraguay 2-1 in a very exciting match. In Chicago, USA took an important step searching to qualify by beating Costa Rica 4-0.

USA got its first victory in the Copa America Centenario and Costa Rica was their victim, the Central-American side's strategies were useless against a powerful local rival. The score was opened by Dempsey on a penalty kick, then Jones and Wood each scored; finally, Zusi was the one closing the score in the 2nd half making it 4-0.

Jürgen Klinnssman’s team showed an evident superiority, especially in the first half when the USA scored 3 of their 4 goals of the match; this was a key victory for their chances to qualify for the quarterfinals.

Colombia and Paraguay were the stars in an outstanding game played in the Pasadena Rose Bowl. José Pekerman’s team won 2-1 finding themselves in the Copa America Centenario quarterfinals a game before their third game.

The game was intense and it was very difficult to say who was going to win. Colombia's goals were scored by Carlos Bacca and James Rodríguez in the first half, in the last 20 minutes of the 2nd half Victor Ayala scored for Paraguay on a goal thanks to a splendid right kick from outside the goal box. Oscar Romero left Ramon Díaz with ten players due to two yellow cards in the game’s last minutes.  On June 11th, Paraguay will give everything versus the local USA, the winner will get the group’s second place and will be qualifying to the quarterfinals, while Costa Rica with a minimum chance to qualify, will be facing Colombia that same day.

Group B’s second date will be played this Wednesday. Brasil will be testing their skills in the Citrus Bowl against Haiti, while Ecuador will be playing Peru in the University of Phoenix Stadium.
